Christianity is one of the oldest religions practiced today that is practiced around the world. The founder(s) are commonly referred to God, or Jesus Christ. God is the father of Jesus, and Jesus was born almost 2000 years ago; 33A.D. to be exact. Jesus lived in Judia and he was born and raised a Jew. Then, Some of the people thought he was the savior, after he was sentenced to die on the cross.
Jesus's parents were referred to Mary, and his father, who was God.
There are several branches of Christianity practiced today. Some are Catholic, Baptist, Prespeterian, Roman Catholic, or Lutheran.
The Ten Commandments are:
1) You shall have no other gods before me (God).
2) You shall not make for yourselves an idol.
3) You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
4) Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
5) Honor your father and your mother.
6) You shall not murder.
7) You shall not commit adultery.
8) You shall not steal.
9) You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
10) You shall not covet.
Christians have one main sacred text; The Bible. The Bible tells about the start of Christianity, events of Christianity, such as The Last Supper, Christmas, and other events.
There are two main Christian holidays, along with others that are practiced, but not as common, such as St. Patrick's Day. However, The two main holidays are Easter and Christmas. Christmas is the day Jesus was born, and is commonly celebrated by gift-trading, family gatherings, and some people even go to Church or Mass on Christmas. Easter celebrates Jesus's death, and is commonly celebrated by Easter dinner, and going to Church or Mass.
Some Christians daily practices are going to church to prey and saying the Lord's prayer before meals.
There are practices such as Baptism, which is when the Priest poors Holy Water on your head when you are an infant, welcoming you into God's family. Then, there's Confirmation, which is committing to god that you are "going through" with being in his family.
Symbols of Christianity are the cross, which is what Jesus died on as a punishment, but then rose again from the dead. Also the fish, which represents early Christian faith.
